Synopsis
Cantonese opera singer (Ma Sze-tsang) stretches beyond his limits to put his older son through college. When the opera troupe disbands, he works as a clown. Shamed, the son refuses his father support and secretly works to finance his education. A cultural history lesson as well, the story parallels the decline of Cantonese opera’s popularity with economic and social misfortunes of the family.
